I went to APEC night in UH with my classmate and her friends after the school yesterday. First, I really didn't know what was going on, and I was just thinking that we can enjoy to have a free dinner there. But, I was so surprised with a lot of people/students in a big hall.
We were walked around in the hall to see the countries boards made by handmades, and we had good conversations with UH students in English. They asked me "where are you from?" and when I had questions, they explained me well. I saw their pictures and read about Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Canada and Hawaii etc. I was really interested about them.
After we got eight stumps, we had a dinner and cakes with Thai tea. They were so delicious!! Finally, a speech started and I tried to listen it careful, but was hard for me. Naoko and Yen told me what they were talking about, and I understood what was APEC Night between theire speechs I believe. I had a really good time with Naoko and Yen on the APEC Night!! :)
It was a great opportunity for us to host the leaders from all over the world! You are lucky to be in Hawaii at this very special occasion, you can always remember this whenever we have APECs in the future. I didn't know about the event you attended, it sounds like you had lots of fun:)
